The general principle of frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar level transmitter is to emit electromagnetic waves from the top of the tank. The electromagnetic waves are reflected when they encounter the medium and are received by the radar. The frequency difference ΔF between the received signal and the transmitted signal is proportional to the distance R from the medium surface:
R = C (velocity) * ΔF (frequency difference) / 2/K (frequency modulation slope).
Since the speed of light C and the frequency modulation slope K are known, estimating the frequency difference ΔF can obtain the distance R from the radar installation position to the material surface. Subtracting the spatial distance from the radar to the material surface (referred to as the empty height) from the total height of the tank, the height of the material level can be obtained.

The 80GHz frequency-modulated millimeter-wave radar has a measurement accuracy of up to ±1mm, and a minimum measurement blind zone of 0.05m.
The lens antenna design has a smaller beam angle and is more suitable for small-diameter tanks and complex working conditions such as tanks with stirring coils.
The energy emission is concentrated, resulting in a larger echo signal and higher reliability compared to other radar products under similar industrial and mining conditions. In addition, the instrument's farthest effective measurement distance can reach 150m.
It has stronger penetration ability and can be used normally even in cases where there are some crystallizations in the tank.
Multiple measurement modes are available, and the radar response time is less than 1 second in the fast measurement mode.

Communication and Debugging
Instrument debugging can be done on site through the LCD, or with optional upper computer software on the PC. RL20X communicates with the PC in the following ways: 1. USB to RS485 serial cable (four-wire); 2. USB to TTL serial cable (two-wire); 3. USB to HART-MODEM (two-wire) for communication. Debugging can also be done using a mobile phone via Bluetooth, making on-site debugging safer and more convenient. Remote debugging can also be done through the 4G network of a remote module from a remote location.
